Decay Characteristics of Neutron Excess Silicon Nuclei

In neutron star mergers, excess nuclei and the r-process are important factors governing production of heavier nuclear systems. A single-particle model evaluation silicon suggests that heaviest Z = 14 nucleus will have mass 54 with filling 1f5/2 shell. 43 – isotopes limited experimental half-life data, but predicts beta decay half-lives in range 0.442 8.06 ms. Based on previous calculations for 9 -13, 20, 26, 30 systems comparisons to 43Si, 44Si, 46Si, 48Si calculations, summarized Japanese Nuclear Data Compilation, results likely overestimate nuclei.
